北歐小品

今天收到的是來自辛辛那提的回音。

My name is Susan and I live in Covington, Kentucky.  Many people know that the state of Kentucky is famous for thoroughbred horses and bourbon whiskey. You might not know that Covington is also just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio, which is where I grew up. People are friendly here, and Cincinnati is just the right size -- not too small, and not too big.

我的名字是蘇珊，我住在肯德基州的Covington市。很多人覺得肯德基最有名的是它們的純種馬和波本威士忌。你或許不知道Covington市區離辛辛那提只有一條河流之隔。辛辛那提是我的故鄉，人們大多都非常友善。辛辛那提對我來說不過大也不會太小，是我理想中的都市!

They say that "Ohio" means "beautiful river" in a Native American language. The Ohio River is one of my favorite things about Cincinnati. Every day on my way to work I can see the city skyline, and I think how lucky I am to live here.

人們說”俄亥俄”的原意是印地安文的”美麗的河流”。俄亥俄河也是我在辛辛那提的最愛!每天在我去工作的路途中，可以看到在河邊連成一條線的高樓，我覺得我真是非常幸運能住在景色這麼優美的地方!

I have a cat named Gigi, who loves sitting in my lap and playing with her toys. In this picture, she's sitting next to her Christmas present.

Finally, one funny story about my childhood. When I was five years old, we went to my grandparents' house for Christmas dinner. I saw a big blueberry on the table, and put it in my mouth... but the blueberries was really a black olive! It tasted awful, and I was so embarrassed that I ran away from the table without eating my food. It was twenty years before I finally tried tasting another olive.

最後，我想說說我的兒時記趣。當我5歲的時候，我們全家一起到奶奶家過聖誕節。我看到桌上有一顆巨大的藍莓，我立刻把它塞進我的嘴裡。但我的”藍莓”其實是一顆黑橄欖!我害羞地躲起來沒有繼續吃完我的晚餐!下一次在吃黑橄欖的時候，已經是二十年後的事情了!
